Sound Synthesis

This course shows you how to create sounds on a synthesizer. By tracing the signal flow from an array of great instruments, students will pick up the core terms and strategies to create their own sounds, rivaling anything available in a commercial library. An emphasis is placed on “hearing shapes” i.e., being able to identify changes in sound and recreate them, synthetically.

You will learn:

  • Signal flow
  • Recipes for bread and butter, industry proven sounds
  • Terms used across all synthesizers
  • Examples and demonstrations for each control
  • Training your ear to hear modulation

Here is a video with instructor Todd Krupa explaining the analog module Conduit, from Folktek.

The classes focus on exactly a discipline you want to improve on from synthesis, sampling to sequencing.  The best part is the flexible online environment and 1:1 relationship I’ve built with Todd.  I can ask anything and explore everything.  The classes are recorded so if I need to review a concept, the video is easy access.
